Systems connected to the black network jacks in Iribe are assigned IP addresses dynamically which means that your system IP address may change over time. To allow you to access your system remotely, we have implemented Dynamic DNS (DDNS).

When your computer is connected to the network, you will be able to access it with its hostname, followed by csdips.umd.edu. For example, a computer named my-laptop will be accessible with the name my-laptop.csdips.umd.edu.

Changing your hostname usually requires rebooting your computer.

Note that you will need to be on campus, or you will need to be connected to the Department or Campus VPN (login required to view this page) to be able to connect from off-campus.

You can verify your DDNS entry by checking the department’s What's My IP page from your system. This information is also available in a text or json format for ease of use from a terminal.
