DUO MFA

Duo Enrollment

If you need to enroll for the first time in our CS Duo app, follow the instruction below:

System Requirements

Duo would authorize connections except for the following Operating System Versions:

Mac OS X: End of Life Version. Find about the unsupported IOS versions in Endoflife date.

Windows: End of Life Version. Find about the unsupported versions in Endoflife date.

iOS: End of Life Version. Find about the unsupported IOS versions in Wikipedia.

If you are running Operating systems that are not supported anymore by their manufacturer, it would require an update to be able to access our systems.

Instructions

Connecting to a host over SSH can be done using PuTTY (Windows computers) or any other terminal emulators. For example, using a linux terminal, you can connect to a host using the command “ssh username@junkfood.cs.umd.edu.” Then, you will be presented with the following prompt:

      Password:

Then, you should enter the CS password. (this method would be using interactive password authentication to connect to an internal host) After correctly typing your cs password, you will be taken to the following prompt.

  • Please Note: The options shown here will vary depending on what/how many devices you have registered with our Duo instance.
    • If you are using passcode, you do not need to choose any option. You just need to put the passcode instead of your choice.
Enter a passcode or select one of the following options:

     1. Duo Push to XXX-XXX-1234
     2. Phone call to XXX-XXX-1234

    Passcode or option (1-2):

The following are the different options available in the CS DUO and its explanation:

    1. Duo Push to XXX-XXX-1234

This selection would send a push notification to the Duo App on whichever device you chose for you to accept the authentication request. In our example, it would require to type 1, and the request would be sent to the app.

          Passcode or option (1-4): 1

Pushed a login request to your device...

    2. Phone call to XXX-XXX-1234

This selection would call the registered phone number and ask you to press any key to authorize the login. In our example, we would have to type 2 to choose this authentication method.

          Passcode or option (1-4): 2

    Calling your phone...
    Dialing XXX-XXX-1234...
